Based on the webcomic "Naemsaereul Boneun Sonyeo" by Man Chwi (first published from July 23, 2013 via cartoon.media.olleh.com).
Singer/actress Bae Suzy was first offered the lead female role, but declined due to scheduling conflicts with her Kpop group Miss A.
Brief Korean working title was "Gamgaknamnyeo" (literally "Sensory Couple") before changing back to its original title of "Naemsaereul Boneun Sonyeo" (literally "The Girl Who Sees Smells").
First script reading took place during the first week of March, 2015 at SBS Ilsan Production Center in Tanhyun, South Korea.
